Ok folks, if you think dusting is something they did back in the olden days, lemme tell you how wrong you are! Dusting is very important. And no, not with a fluffy little dusting poof that looks super cute but simply moves the dust to another place. No, I’m talking real dusting with a damp rag or microfiber cloth that picks up every particle of dust.
Where does dust come from? Mainly you and your pet. “The majority of dust is made up from shed skin cells. That’s why the areas of your home that are used most often also tend to have the most dust. (Dust mites like to eat these skin cells.) Dust on mattresses, bedding and sofas will contain a particularly large amount of skin cells. Says Larry Arlian, an internationally recognized expert on dust mites, dust is a complex mixture of a lot of different materials, and a lot of it is unavoidable.” Bleh, right?!
And did you know that dust mites are one of the leading causes of asthma and allergies! Yup.
One of the best ways to keep your home free of dust and dust mites?
- get rid of your wall-to-wall carpet
- clean your sheets each week
- vacuum regularly
- eliminate shoes being worn in your house
- reduce the number of stuffed animals in your home
- and dust regularly!
